Circa 1880, carved oak monks bench of rectangular form with a solid top which is carved with a foliate design. This is hinged and is supported by 2 solid carved oak uprights. The inside of the lid also has a pattern. The arms are supported on 4 bulbous balustrades. The solid oak seat is hinged and opens to reveal a large storage area inside. The front has two raised panels, again with foliate carving and other various patterns around it. The piece has two solid oak gables which are also carved in a flower head pattern. The bench is dark oak in colour, good condition, and sturdy.
