Circa 1930, very stylish Art Deco oak monks bench. The top has 3 fielded panels with chamfered sides, is hinged and slides back to reveal a lovely chair back with carvings and fielded panels. The bench has a large bow front seat with a hinged solid oak top opening to show a massive storage space inside. The arms are chunky with ribbing and open fretwork carving on the sides in the form of a diamond. There are fielded panels again on the sides and front, and foliate carving in the centre over an unusual stylised base. The whole piece stands on a pair of squat trestle bases. Excellent colour and condition.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
