A highly un-usual mid-Victorian oak Hall Stand, the column bearing the painted arms and motto of the Hertfordshire Jocelyn or Josselyn family, within carved cartouche border, on a shaped base with tin liner.
40 in. wide x 83 in. high.

Note: the motto Faire mon devoir is translatable as, ‘To do my duty’. The coat of arms is described as, ‘a falcon’s leg erased a la guise, belled or.’
